Knowing that "standard" cane configurations are not always successful with
clients who have additional cognitive or physical involvements, this book
was developed after many years of working with clients who having additional
cognitive or physical involvements in mind. This guide is an attempt to help
other O&Mers expand their "horizons" as they face a more and more diverse
population with broader ranges of problems and abilities. The 43 page manual
contains 165 color digital pictures along with step-by-step instructions
that helps to simplify repair and modification procedures. It is highly

Michigan State University
The Special Education Master Degree Program at Michigan State University is
pleased to announce that study within the Area of Emphasis in Visual Impairment and
Blindness will be available in a WEB-based format. No trips to Michigan will be required.
Students will meet the same course work, assignment, and practicum/internship requirements
as on campus students. Practica/intern experiences will be provided in the student's own

Travel
Instruction for People with Disabilities (other than blindness)
This new program is the first baccalaureate
degree program of its kind in the country. With the passage of the
Americans with Disabilities Act comes the right for people with
disabilities to have equal access to public transportation. Along with
that right comes the need for instructors who can teach orientation,
independent travel and the use of public transportation. The WMU program
prepares professionals who are able to serve as these instructors.
